Cringe Factor

I watched the first episode of Mad Men tonight.

It looks pretty good. I'll probably keep watching.

I was kind of horrified though. The attitudes about women are disturbing. It gave me a glipse of why feminism exists. To think that people can behave this way is frightening.

Yay !

Guess who's not an illegal alien anymore!

Today I got my "récépissé de demande de carte de séjour" which is a receipt saying that I have applied for a residence card. Hopefully it won't take forever to get the actual residence card (carte de séjour).

Breakthrough

This week in French class I had a real breakthrough.

In class when I told the teacher that I didn't understand, it was in French!

Advice

Sometimes people ask me to do light editing on their papers because I'm native English speaker. 

Just now someone asked me a question about formatting. This was great! Their question had nothing to do with English. It was just about the best way to format an equation.

Still, they thought I was the perfect person to answer this because I must know how they do it in America.

Having published a total of zero papers myself, I may not be the absolute authority on the matter. The American in me wouldn't let something as trivial as this get in the way though. My answer was confident and authoritative.
